On July 31, sources from distributors and industry insiders revealed that Wuliangye has recently reduced multiple subsidy inputs for its channel dealers. The overall cost for dealers of the eighth-generation Wuliangye has risen from around 800-850 yuan per bottle to approximately 850-900 yuan per bottle, marking an increase of about 50 yuan per bottle compared to before the tightening. Wuliangye has yet to comment on the situation.
In terms of wholesale prices, as of now, the wholesale price of the eighth-generation Wuliangye is approximately 748-775 yuan per bottle. Regarding retail prices, data from a price tracking source shows that the retail price of the eighth-generation Wuliangye has been declining recently, dropping from 790 yuan per bottle on July 28 to 776 yuan per bottle today.
Independent Chinese alcohol industry commentator Xiao Zhuqing noted that the eighth-generation Wuliangye, as a representative of high-end baijiu, still has a relatively low market opening rate. "Some major distributors, leveraging their scale advantages, engage in cross-regional price dumping, leading to widespread price chaos across the country. Most dealers are selling at a loss, which has severely dampened their sales enthusiasm."
