Hang Lung Properties (HANG LUNG PPT) has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, confirming full completion of the 25×25 Sustainability Targets set four years ago and unveiling refreshed, more ambitious 2030 goals aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for a 1.5 °C pathway.
Key achievements through 2025 include: • Greenhouse-gas intensity (Scope 1 & 2, market-based) down 64% versus the 2018 baseline, beating the 40% target by 161%. • Electricity-use intensity trimmed 22.4% against 2018, surpassing the 18% target. • Renewable-energy procurement now covers eight of ten Mainland properties, providing 71% of landlord power needs and pushing tenant GHG intensity in those assets 67.5% below 2018 levels. • Operational waste-diversion rate reached 86%, exceeding the 70% goal, while construction-site waste-recycling hit 98%. • Water-use intensity dropped 14% against 2018, outpacing the 10% target. • Over 80% of the portfolio’s gross floor area holds green-building certification; more than 90% has achieved WELL or WELL Health-Safety ratings.
Financial alignment with sustainability advanced: ESG-linked debt and credit facilities rose to 58% of total, above the 50% objective. Hang Lung’s inaugural internal carbon-pricing pilot informed renewable-energy procurement economics, and the company reconfirmed its 2050 net-zero commitment with SBTi-validated near- and long-term targets under the new Buildings Criteria.
Tenant and supplier engagement intensified. The “Changemakers” program expanded to 76 tenants, representing 20% of leased floor area, while ESG assessments now cover 64% of significant suppliers. A December 2025 supplier workshop convened more than 100 partners to outline 2030 procurement goals, including a 15% sustainable-spend target.
Governance enhancements feature twice-yearly board reviews of climate risk, monthly sustainability briefings to the chair, and integration of ESG KPIs into executive remuneration. A new Artificial Intelligence Governance Committee and Information Security Policy were introduced in 2025, and all employees completed mandatory integrity and cybersecurity training.
Looking ahead, HANG LUNG PPT will implement 20 refreshed 2030 Sustainability Goals—including a 56.1% per-square-metre cut in operational Scope 1-3 emissions from a 2023 base, 42% reduction in upfront embodied carbon, 70% renewable electricity share, 35% municipal-waste recycling, 8% freshwater-intensity reduction, and a 10% biodiversity net-gain commitment on new projects—while maintaining its science-aligned pathway to value-chain net zero by 2050.
