U.S. Vice President Vance's Islamabad Trip Postponed

Deep News04-22 02:20

A U.S. official with direct knowledge of the matter stated that Vice President JD Vance's diplomatic visit to Islamabad, intended to pressure Iranian negotiators into reaching a nuclear agreement, has been put on hold. The delay follows Tehran's failure to respond to the U.S. negotiation stance.

The official indicated that Vance was originally scheduled to depart for Pakistan's capital on Tuesday morning and resume talks on Wednesday, coinciding with the expiration of the fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran.

While the diplomatic process has effectively paused due to Iran's lack of response, the trip has not been entirely canceled.

The visit could be reinstated at any time if Iranian negotiators provide a response deemed acceptable by former President Trump. U.S. officials are also seeking clear confirmation that Iranian representatives have full authority to finalize an agreement.

The official noted that while a resumption of bombing is not imminent, the Pentagon continues to evaluate various military options.
