According to an announcement, the "Oriental Splendor, National Beauty" 2026 Annual Oriental Traditional Color Release Conference was held on January 5th at the Qi Culture Museum in Zibo, Shandong. At the conference, the classic edition, gift box edition, and precious edition of Kweichow Moutai (Bingwu Year of the Horse) were officially unveiled. Sales for all three products will commence simultaneously on the i Moutai App daily at 09:00 starting January 6th.
Kweichow Moutai (Bingwu Year of the Horse) is produced in the core protected geographical indication area for Kweichow Moutai. It leverages the unique natural environment and is meticulously crafted using local high-quality glutinous sorghum, wheat, and water as raw materials, following the scientifically unique traditional production process of Kweichow Moutai. The precious edition utilizes a premium liquor base, crafted through a "liquor-blending-liquor" method involving over 200 different base liquors with distinct characteristics. The classic and gift box editions are based on nearly 200 different base liquors, with distinctly characteristic ones selected for flavor and aroma enhancement. The different editions cater to diverse tasting occasions and collection preferences.
The lunar year 2026 is the Bingwu Year of the Horse, associated with the "Yang Fire" element in the Chinese five-element system. To resonate with this attribute, Kweichow Moutai (Bingwu Year of the Horse) adopts "Qi Purple," the 2026 Annual Oriental Traditional Color, as its primary hue. This elegant, dignified, deep, and majestic color carries spiritual and cultural connotations that align perfectly with the vigorous energy and renewed spirit symbolized by the "Double Fire" Bingwu year. It not only showcases the profound heritage of Oriental aesthetics but also embodies aspirations for a better life, serving as a vessel for blessings and hope.
The overall design of Kweichow Moutai (Bingwu Year of the Horse) inherits thematic elements from zodiac culture, the five-element theory, calligraphy and painting art, and traditional Chinese colors, while innovatively integrating diverse cultural aspects such as famous traditional ceramics, intangible cultural heritage crafts, and carving art. The straight cylindrical cap incorporates the image of the horse zodiac sign combined with traditional patterns using the intangible cultural heritage "gold and silver inlay" technique, where the intricate decorations complement the cap's simple form. The bottle body features traditional glaze colors, with the carving technique integrating the artwork "Horse Treading on Auspicious Clouds," created by Professor Wang Shaojun from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, capturing the divine charm of a heavenly steed. Additionally, calligraphy by researcher Li Ming from the Chinese National Academy of Arts is incorporated, and a seal script engraving of the heavenly stems and earthly branches for the year, created by first-class national artist Wei Jie, is embedded on the front, combining artistic appreciation with collectible value. For the outer packaging, the precious edition uses a wooden box that ingeniously integrates dougong bracket structures, a metal sculpture of "Horse Treading on Auspicious Clouds," and the bottle itself, also employing the "gold and silver inlay" technique. The exquisite patterns echo the Bingwu Horse Year theme, making the packaging artistic, practical, and culturally rich. The classic and gift box editions incorporate thematic elements like "Horse Treading on Auspicious Clouds" and "Bingwu Year of the Horse" on the color box, along with the painting "Precious Horse Galloping Ten Thousand Miles" by former Chinese Artists Association Vice Chairman Yang Lizhou, blending craft aesthetics with quality expression.
Beyond design innovation, Kweichow Moutai (Bingwu Year of the Horse) continues to deepen its digital experience and green connotations. The i Moutai App will further explore digital value-added services and will launch related digital features for the product in due course. Furthermore, the product uses biodegradable, environmentally friendly paper for packaging materials and paper pulp materials for the inner lining, effectively enhancing the product's "green quotient" while balancing quality and aesthetics, allowing the traditional fine liquor to coexist with ecological protection.
