HP Inc shares surged 5.20% during intraday trading on Friday, as investors reacted to the company's accelerating artificial intelligence strategy and its expanding footprint in the AI PC hardware cycle.
The rally comes amid growing enthusiasm for HP's AI initiatives. In late June, the company announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to deploy the Frontier platform at enterprise scale across its global operations, covering areas such as customer self-service, device health diagnostics, cybersecurity vulnerability analysis, and software development workflows. This partnership followed an exploratory phase that began in February, during which HP successfully leveraged AI to significantly compress code testing and security remediation timelines.
Additionally, HP remains a key beneficiary of the AI PC trend as one of the first manufacturers to adopt NVIDIA's RTX Spark platform, having unveiled the OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14 laptops in early June. Further reinforcing the AI PC theme, Samsung recently sent samples of its GAIA AI accelerator chip to HP for validation testing, with mass production targeted for next year.
