Wealthiest 500 Individuals See Second-Largest Daily Net Worth Increase on Record, Yet Fail to Offset Year-to-Date Losses

Deep News10:20

A temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran triggered a significant stock market rally, leading to a collective increase of $265 billion in the wealth of the world's 500 richest people on Wednesday.

This marks the second-largest single-day gain in the history of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, occurring almost exactly one year after the record high increase of $304 billion. Bernard Arnault, along with Alphabet co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, each saw their fortunes rise by more than $8 billion.

However, this surge was insufficient to recover the losses sustained by the wealth index so far in 2026. Since the beginning of the year, the total wealth of the 500 richest individuals has decreased by $388 billion, leaving a combined total of $11.7 trillion.
