In a recent interview with China Entrepreneur magazine, Zhang Xue was asked to name the entrepreneur he admires most. Zhang candidly shared that he previously held a strong liking for Lei Jun. When pressed on whether that admiration has faded, Zhang responded with a smile, clarifying that it hasn't diminished to dislike, but then offered his perspective on the recent "scoop cover" incident involving Lei Jun. Zhang pointed out that if he were in Lei Jun's position, he would have addressed the situation by implementing two solutions: first, directly refunding the price difference for the cover; second, for customers who had not yet taken delivery of their vehicles, immediately processing order cancellations. He believes that by taking these two steps, the points critics use to attack Lei Jun would be significantly reduced. From a cost perspective, Zhang considers the financial impact negligible for Lei Jun, as XIAOMI-W does not face a shortage of orders. In his view, the value of brand reputation and public image far outweighs the minor cost of the price difference.
