Waigaoqiao Immigration Checkpoint Facilitates Shanghai Port's First Newly Built Oil Tanker of the Year on Maiden Voyage

Deep News01-09

At approximately 9:00 AM on January 9th, with support from the Waigaoqiao Immigration Checkpoint under the Shanghai Immigration Inspection General Station, the Shanghai Port's first newly built oil tanker of the year, the "Ocean Gemini," sounded its departure whistle and set sail from the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port.

The newly constructed oil tanker "Ocean Gemini" is a large-scale vessel independently designed and built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Through technological innovations in areas like hydrodynamics, the ship meets the EEDI Phase III requirements, fully demonstrating its advantages in energy efficiency, safety, and economic performance.

Officers from the Waigaoqiao Immigration Checkpoint handled the exit border inspection formalities for the new vessel. To ensure the smooth commencement of its maiden voyage, the Waigaoqiao Immigration Checkpoint made advance arrangements, creating a "tailor-made" service checklist and establishing a dedicated task force. They implemented refined inspection measures under a "one ship, one policy" approach for procedures such as the application for delivery documents and hull inspections for the new ship. By moving services to the front line and optimizing inspection processes, they significantly reduced clearance times, guaranteeing the vessel's efficient departure.

According to statistics, the Waigaoqiao Immigration Checkpoint facilitated the delivery and maiden voyages of 29 new ships throughout 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of over 20%.
