A store owner in Fuzhou recently shared a heartwarming story about a young woman he helped. The owner, Cao Feng, said a girl came to his shop in early January to buy scratch cards. During their conversation, she mentioned she was struggling to find work and had been spending nights at a McDonald's. Touched by her situation, Cao Feng gave her 100 yuan to buy a warm meal. The girl initially refused but eventually accepted after he insisted, promising to repay him in a month. Cao Feng told her not to worry about returning the money.
Two months later, the girl came back to the shop. Cao Feng was surprised and delighted to see her. She had tried to find him three times—once during the Spring Festival when the store was closed, and again recently. She finally contacted him through the shop to arrange a meeting. When they met, she brought him peaches and a cola, and insisted on repaying 200 yuan—double the original amount—as a gesture of gratitude.
Cao Feng expressed that his happiness came not from the repayment, but from her thoughtful effort to find him. He noted that in his city-center location, many people ask for money, and he never expects anything in return. Her return, he said, was a touching and unexpected surprise.
