China Southern Airlines Reports Passenger Traffic Decline for June

China Southern Airlines has released its operational data for the month of June 2026.

China Southern Airlines Company Limited (ASX: 600029) has reported a decline in its passenger traffic figures for the month of June. The airline group's passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, saw a year-on-year decrease of 1.18%. This decline was driven by domestic and regional routes, which fell by 3.99% and 5.76%, respectively. However, international capacity experienced growth, rising by 6.84%.

Key Performance Indicators

The company's passenger traffic, measured by revenue passenger kilometers, also decreased, falling by 2.48% compared to the same period last year. Similar to capacity, domestic and regional traffic saw significant declines of 5.51% and 9.63%, respectively. In contrast, international traffic increased by 6.39%. The overall passenger load factor for the month stood at 84.03%, representing a drop of 1.13 percentage points from June of the previous year.

Cargo Operations Overview

In its cargo operations, the airline reported a 3.07% year-on-year decrease in freight capacity, measured by available tonne kilometers. Freight traffic, measured by revenue tonne kilometers, also declined, falling by 2.18%. Despite the decrease in volume, the cargo load factor showed a slight improvement, increasing by 0.51 percentage points to reach 55.40% for the month.
