The Zhanjiang Inspection Branch of the Guangdong Special Equipment Inspection Institute has recently completed the commissioned inspection for the installation of a 235-ton gantry crane at the Phase I project of the Lianjiang Nuclear Power Plant. This achievement provides solid technical support and safeguards the critical progress of this major national energy project.
Ensuring safety and supporting major projects is a key focus. The Lianjiang Nuclear Power Phase I project is the first nuclear power initiative developed and constructed by the State Power Investment Corporation in Guangdong. It is also the first nuclear power project in China to adopt seawater secondary circulation cooling technology. As a core lifting device within the reactor building, the installation quality of the 235-ton gantry crane is directly related to the safety of subsequent main equipment hoisting and the overall construction schedule. Leveraging its technical expertise, the Zhanjiang Inspection Branch proactively engaged with the project, providing front-line services. It swiftly established a specialized technical team led by senior mechanical and electrical inspection engineers to ensure the safe and orderly advancement of this major energy project.
The inspection plan was meticulously detailed to guarantee precision and efficiency. Given the high standards and stringent requirements for nuclear power equipment, the technical team systematically reviewed national standards, industry regulations, and specific engineering technical requirements. They broke down inspection key points item by item, repeatedly verified technical approaches, and developed a comprehensive, targeted special inspection plan tailored to the project's needs. During the inspection process, the team conducted systematic checks and performance verifications on critical aspects such as the gantry crane's structural integrity, installation accuracy, safety protection devices, and electrical control systems. This work was carried out in high-temperature environments exceeding 40°C. The team also successfully completed multi-condition load tests, thoroughly examining the equipment's operational stability and safety performance under both rated and overload conditions.
Strengthening coordination and collaboration was essential to forming an effective working force. Throughout the inspection period, the Zhanjiang Inspection Branch worked closely and cooperatively with the construction unit and on-site supervision teams. This ensured seamless integration of inspection procedures and safe, orderly on-site operations.
