Two programs proposed by the Qingdao Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau have been selected for the 2026 National Advanced Training Program for Professional and Technical Personnel. The programs, titled "Marine Science and Technology Innovation Empowering High-Quality Development of the Marine Equipment Industry" and "Virtual Reality and Smart Construction," are among seven selected from Shandong Province. These national-level programs are designed to cultivate high-level, urgently needed talent through advanced academic exchange and technical workshops, supporting high-quality economic and social development. Scheduled for June 2026 in Qingdao, the programs will enroll participants nationwide, with a focus on frontline technical professionals.
The "Marine Science and Technology Innovation" program, organized by the Ocean University of China, aligns with national strategic needs to strengthen maritime power. It targets key sectors like marine engineering equipment and high-tech ships, aiming to resolve critical technological bottlenecks. The program will feature a top-tier faculty, including academician Li Huajun and former vice president Wei Zhiqiang, comprising 15 senior experts. The curriculum will cover advanced areas such as deep-sea exploration, high-end ships and marine equipment, and efficient conversion of marine renewable energy, fostering deeper industry-academia-research collaboration to support the marine equipment industry's upgrade.
The "Virtual Reality and Smart Construction" program, hosted by the Qingdao University of Technology, connects with national digitalization strategies and Shandong's push for high-quality digital economic development. Leveraging national and provincial teaching demonstration centers, the program integrates VR and AR technologies with civil engineering. Its practical curriculum includes digitalization of underground space engineering, material performance testing in complex environments, and smart construction of prefabricated buildings using BIM technology. Participants will engage in academic reports, visits to leading enterprises, and virtual simulation experiments like molecular dynamics and engineering accident impact assessments to enhance complex problem-solving skills.
An official from the municipal bureau stated that the dual selection highlights Qingdao's achievements in talent development aligned with its "10+1" innovation industrial system and Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor. In 2025, the city successfully held 25 advanced training programs at national, provincial, and municipal levels, nurturing nearly 1,000 high-level professionals. With the launch of these two national programs in 2026, Qingdao will further utilize its national continuing education base to develop high-quality courseware, promote resource sharing, and provide a superior learning platform for technical professionals nationwide, contributing to the formation and development of new productive forces.
