Stock News04:40

Microsoft (MSFT.US) on Tuesday launched its latest artificial intelligence image model, MAI Image 2.7, further strengthening its technological footprint in the generative AI space.

According to third-party evaluations, the model ranks second on the AI image model leaderboard, trailing only OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, and outperforming related AI models from Google (GOOGL.US, GOOG.US) as well as Microsoft's previous-generation MAI-Image-2.6.

Microsoft stated that MAI Image 2.7 is now available on platforms including Arena, Artificial Analysis, and MAI Playground, where users can experience the new model's capabilities.

According to Microsoft's official blog, MAI Image 2.7 outperformed the previous-generation MAI-Image-2.6 across all 10 application scenarios and 7 image editing operations evaluated by Artificial Analysis.

Specifically, the new model achieves industry-leading performance in areas such as image enhancement and restoration, reasoning-based image editing, scene and style adjustment, as well as text and symbol editing.

Among these, scene and style editing is the area where MAI Image 2.7 performs most prominently, with its Elo rating leading the second-ranked model in that category by 24 points, highlighting Microsoft's technological progress in complex image editing tasks.

It is worth noting that Microsoft has initially released only the image editing capabilities of MAI Image 2.7, while the text-to-image generation feature has not yet been officially launched. Microsoft said the related functionality will be available soon.

As competition in generative AI technology continues to heat up, image generation and editing have become one of the key areas of focus for tech giants. Microsoft's launch of this next-generation AI image model demonstrates the company's ongoing efforts to strengthen its independent AI model research and development capabilities, and to expand the application scenarios of its AI technology by improving image editing performance.

In terms of market performance, as of press time, Microsoft's stock price rose slightly by 0.35% to $534.44.

Overall, MAI Image 2.7's performance in third-party evaluations reflects Microsoft's continued progress in the AI image technology field. With the subsequent launch of the text-to-image generation feature, the market will pay further attention to the new model's practical application performance and whether it can help Microsoft enhance its competitiveness in the generative AI market.
