PegBio Co., Ltd. (PEGBIO CO-B, 02565) disclosed that its next-generation GLP-1 candidate, CR059, has been accepted for an oral discussion session at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD 2026).
The EASD scientific committee grants oral discussion slots to research with high innovation and academic impact, underscoring the visibility CR059 is achieving in global diabetes research. The project was previously selected as a Late Breaking Abstract at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions, marking recognition from the two most influential metabolic-disease conferences worldwide.
CR059 is a circular RNA-encoded GLP-1 analogue designed for prolonged in-vivo expression rather than half-life extension typical of peptide GLP-1 receptor agonists. Pre-clinical results show that a single dose maintains sustained drug exposure and prolonged body-weight reduction in non-human primates, supporting the potential for monthly-or-longer—and even quarterly—dosing intervals. If translated clinically, this modality could reduce dosing burden and improve long-term compliance for obesity and type 2 diabetes patients.
Management notes that CR059 builds on PegBio’s commercialised Visepegenatide Injection (weekly GLP-1) and positions the company to cover weekly, monthly-plus and quarterly ultra-long-acting GLP-1 treatment routes. The continued progress is expected to enhance PegBio’s technical recognition, academic profile, pipeline valuation and international partnering opportunities in metabolic-disease therapeutics.
CR059 remains in R&D, and regulatory, clinical and commercial outcomes are uncertain. The company will update the market on further developments in line with disclosure regulations. Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when trading PegBio’s securities.
