KE Holdings Co-Founders Donate 400 Million Yuan for "Guardian Cards" Issued to 500,000 Individuals, with Two Critical Illness Claims Processed on First Day

Deep News04-23

On April 23, KE Holdings introduced the "Health Home Guardian Card" during its company anniversary celebration and released detailed implementation rules for the 400 million yuan "Health Home Guardian Fund" donated by its two co-founders earlier this year. Applications for coverage under the fund are now open, with protection retroactively effective from February 24, the date the project was announced. This means that incidents such as critical illness or death occurring on or after February 24 are eligible for full benefits according to the rules. It is reported that KE Holdings has already issued one-on-one exclusive Guardian Cards to over 500,000 employees of KE Holdings, Lianjia, and other industry service providers. On the same day, two industry service providers successfully claimed 20,000 yuan each in critical illness benefits. One of them, a service provider from Beijing, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in March and is currently hospitalized. The other, a Lianjia service provider from Chengdu, not only qualified for the 20,000 yuan critical illness benefit but also met the application criteria for the "Family Warmth Support Fund" and the "Children's Education Fund." The remaining 180,000 yuan in guardian benefits is under review and is expected to be disbursed within 10 working days.

The "Health Home Guardian Fund" was jointly established by KE Holdings Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO Peng Yongdong and Co-Founder Shan Yigang. On April 17, 2025, and February 24, 2026, the co-founders announced the donation of 19 million shares. These funds are designated to provide medical security, children's education support, and assistance for new graduates to service providers in the residential industry and their families, leading to the creation of this project. The newly launched "Guardian Card" serves as an exclusive electronic credential for accessing these benefits. Employees of KE Holdings, Lianjia, and industry service providers can claim their "Guardian Card" through channels such as the corporate WeChat platform. A significant number of KE Holdings and Lianjia employees, along with platform service providers, have already shared images of their cards on social media. The card features KE Holdings' 25th-anniversary commemorative logo for the first time. Service providers can choose from 10 different designs available in two color schemes, mother-of-pearl and gold, each printed with personalized information including the individual's name and claim number.

"The fundamental purpose of the platform is to provide customers with higher quality, more trustworthy service and value. Employees and service providers are the key bearers of value in creating residential services for customers," stated Peng Yongdong, Chairman of KE Holdings, in the company's New Year letter marking its 25th anniversary. "By jointly establishing the 'Health Home Guardian Fund' with Shan Yigang, we hope to do a little more, provide a little more security, enabling service providers to not only safeguard their own families but also serve millions of others, giving them greater peace of mind and stability on their journey of hard work."

The "Health Home Guardian Fund" project, for which detailed rules were announced, benefits over 500,000 industry service providers, including eligible brand owners, store owners, agents, cleaners, and maintenance personnel. The fund comprises three sub-projects. The "Life Emergency Fund" is designed for sudden critical illness diagnoses. Upon diagnosis and with complete documentation, a claim for 20,000 yuan can be processed and paid within two working days. Unlike traditional post-treatment reimbursement models common in the insurance market, this emergency fund is positioned as "life-saving emergency assistance," providing immediate support to families in distress. The other two sub-projects offer a safety net for special circumstances: The "Family Warmth Support Fund" provides a one-time grant of 100,000 yuan to employees and residential industry service provider families who lose their ability to work or meet other eligibility criteria. Beneficiaries with children can also receive a one-time educational support payment ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 yuan through the "Children's Education Fund," based on their children's school age, to help families navigate difficult times. The "Family Warmth Support Fund" and "Children's Education Fund" represent a comprehensive upgrade to KE Holdings' existing employee benefits, not only increasing the coverage amounts but also extending the beneficiary scope to include industry service providers.
