Samsung Electronics HBM4 Chip Sales Surpass $1 Billion in Four Months Since Launch

Deep News06-23

Industry sources disclosed on Tuesday that sales of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.'s sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory chip, HBM4, have exceeded $1 billion.

This milestone comes just four months after the South Korean tech giant became the world's first company to begin mass production and shipment of HBM4 chips in February of this year.

Market insiders project that sales of Samsung's HBM4 chips will surpass $1.2 billion by the end of June.

Since the introduction of HBM4, Samsung has rapidly scaled up its shipments, thereby securing a larger share of the fast-growing HBM market.

HBM4 is specifically engineered for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chips, including platforms like Nvidia's Vera Rubin.

The global HBM market is currently dominated by fifth-generation HBM3E products. However, industry observers anticipate that HBM4 will become a key growth driver as demand for advanced AI chips accelerates.
