A dynamic exchange event focused on the practical application of AI agents took place on the afternoon of August 17th at the Tianfu Changdao Digital Creative Industry Park in Chengdu. Themed "Intelligent Connectivity, Empowering All Industries," the Tencent WorkBuddy supply-demand matchmaking session was designed to foster connections across the software, information services, and cultural tourism industry chains, with the government providing the platform and enterprises taking the lead.
With regions across China actively pushing to integrate artificial intelligence into various sectors and daily life, the event showcased several application cases that illustrated a clear pathway for AI agents to empower the real economy. For instance, in the manufacturing quality inspection process, intelligent verification systems have slashed report review times from 2 to 4 hours down to just 5 to 10 minutes. In the cross-border e-commerce field, AI is helping organizations evolve from individual efficiency gains to a broader organizational transformation. Meanwhile, in the digital creative sector, AI is reconstructing the entire content production chain, from planning and screenwriting to filming, post-production, and distribution.
Attendees observed that AI agents have shifted from being general-purpose office assistants to becoming deeply integrated into core business processes. The key to further bridging the gap between supply and demand lies in precise, multi-party collaboration and targeted connections. To this end, the event drew over 360 participants, including officials from provincial and municipal departments, leaders from nearly 10 industrial parks such as Tianfu Software Park and Tianfu International Bio-Town, representatives from 20 central state-owned enterprises and municipal SOEs like Chengdu Communications Investment Group, and delegates from more than 200 advanced intelligent factories and industrial and service enterprises across Sichuan Province.
The primary goal was to establish a communication platform involving the government, industrial parks, and businesses, tackling real-world pain points like difficult market expansion, narrow channels, and scattered resources. The event adopted a precise "1+N" matchmaking model, pairing one key core enterprise with multiple industry-specific demand-side companies. This approach was tailored to address the core needs of different businesses, promoting the practical application of AI agents in government affairs, park management, and enterprise operations.
As the event's core enterprise and a leading player in the software and information services chain, Tencent unveiled its full suite of WorkBuddy AI agent capabilities. The company delivered a special presentation on its AI agent products and industry-specific solutions, systematically demonstrating AI's ability to empower government services, organizational management, and production operations. Tencent also released application solutions targeting multiple sectors, including manufacturing, digital creative industries, and cross-border e-commerce.
A Tencent representative stated that as a chain-leading enterprise deeply rooted in Chengdu, the company will continue to export its core large-model and AI agent capabilities. Leveraging the WorkBuddy agent tools, Tencent aims to provide low-cost, high-efficiency innovation pathways for enterprises undergoing digital and intelligent transformation, while also driving collaborative innovation with a wide range of software information service providers and commercial operators.
A major highlight of the event was the introduction of the Tianfu Changdao practice of the nation's first Tencent WorkBuddy OPC (One Person Company) cooperative community. Since its establishment on July 10th, this community has concentrated the supply of AI agent capabilities within the park, offering small and medium-sized enterprises a low-cost, high-efficiency route to digital transformation. This innovative model has already attracted proactive engagement from over 500 parks and operating entities nationwide.
Software serves as the foundation of the digital economy and a critical vehicle for AI innovation. An official from the Chengdu Municipal Economic and Information Technology Bureau's New Economy Committee noted that by the end of 2025, the city is expected to have over 280,000 business entities in the software industry, including 432 companies with software business revenue exceeding 100 million yuan. In the first half of this year, the city's software and information services industry achieved main business revenue of 387.66 billion yuan, a 10.9% year-on-year increase. This growth has solidified a "one core, multiple poles" industrial development pattern and a robust innovation ecosystem, accelerating the city's push toward a trillion-yuan software industry.
