(April 21) Hong Kong stocks fell sharply at the open on Wednesday as US equities fell further from their record highs overnight.
The Hang Seng Index fell 1.45 per cent or 433.46 points to 28,702.27.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.48 per cent or 16.64 points to 3,456.30, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange slumped 0.61 per cent or 13.93 points to 2,658.75.
A gauge of stock prices across the world was on track on Tuesday for its largest daily drop since early March as concern lingered over rising global COVID-19 cases, while oil prices also fell.
