Global AMOLED Smartphone Panel Shipments Reach Approximately 430 Million Units in H1 2026, Up 3.8% Year-on-Year

According to data from CINNO Research, global AMOLED smartphone panel shipments reached approximately 430 million units in the first half of 2026, marking a 3.8% year-on-year increase and outperforming initial expectations. Despite soft demand pressures in the smartphone terminal market, leading brands such as Apple and Samsung maintained a steady procurement pace, supported by their robust supply chain advantages and strong earnings resilience, serving as a key driver behind the shipment growth. Meanwhile, in response to uncertainties in the downstream market, several domestic panel manufacturers proactively front-loaded some future demand to sustain production line utilization rates and mitigate potential cost escalation risks, further boosting first-half shipments. Additionally, against a backdrop of conservative consumer spending and extended smartphone replacement cycles, demand in the phone repair market rose significantly, providing an extra increment to overall shipments.

By region, Chinese manufacturers accounted for a 50.5% share of global AMOLED smartphone panel shipments in H1 2026, down 1.1 percentage points year-on-year yet still maintaining a level above half; Korean manufacturers held a 49.5% share. In terms of market structure, Samsung Display (SDC) saw its shipments grow 6.5% year-on-year, with its market share expanding from 40.9% to 42.0% in the same period last year, an increase of 1.1 percentage points, benefiting from sales growth at its key clients Apple and Samsung's smartphone brands. BOE achieved a 16.0% year-on-year increase in shipments, securing second place globally and first in China with a 19.1% market share, up 2.0 percentage points year-on-year; it recorded the largest growth in both shipments and share, mainly due to its deep integration as a primary supplier for flagship models from several mainstream domestic brands. Visionox posted a 9.7% year-on-year shipment increase, capturing a 10.4% market share, up 0.6 percentage points year-on-year, driven by its unique technological advantages and an optimized customer strategy. Tianma saw shipments rise just 0.1% year-on-year, with its market share dipping 0.4 percentage points to 10.4%, as rising upstream memory chip prices weighed on the mid-range market and weakened panel demand.

On a quarterly basis, global AMOLED smartphone panel shipments in Q2 2026 reached approximately 220 million units, up 8.4% year-on-year and 7.7% quarter-on-quarter, reflecting double-digit growth metrics on both fronts. This was mainly attributed to adjustments in terminal makers' procurement schedules: in Q1, rising costs for components such as memory chips prompted some mainstream brands to tighten procurement to control inventory levels; entering Q2, as inventories returned to a healthy range, certain panel makers negotiated with brands to release some second-half procurement demand earlier, combined with a rebound in terminal restocking intentions, directly propelling a notable recovery in shipments. However, this demand front-loading implies that some Q3 orders have been absorbed ahead of schedule, and a sequential pullback in panel shipments is anticipated for Q3. Regionally, in Q2 2026, Korean makers represented 49.3% of global AMOLED smartphone panel shipments, up 1.9 percentage points year-on-year but down 0.4 percentage points quarter-on-quarter; domestic Chinese manufacturers held a 50.7% share, maintaining stability above the 50% threshold.

In the Q2 market structure, Samsung Display recorded a 12.6% year-on-year and 9.3% quarter-on-quarter increase in AMOLED smartphone panel shipments, with its market share climbing to 42.3%, up 1.6 percentage points year-on-year, largely propelled by strong order momentum from Apple and Samsung in the second quarter. BOE saw shipments advance 14.4% year-on-year although declining 1.9% quarter-on-quarter, holding an 18.3% market share, up 1.0 percentage point year-on-year; despite terminal demand headwinds, BOE maintained solid growth resilience. Visionox achieved a 10.3% year-on-year jump in shipments with a substantial 30.6% quarter-on-quarter surge, capturing an 11.4% market share, up 0.2 percentage points year-on-year, as its cost-effectiveness and rapid response capabilities elevated it from a secondary to a primary supplier on certain models in the mid-to-high-end segment. Tianma grew its AMOLED smartphone panel shipments by 5.9% year-on-year and 17.6% quarter-on-quarter, with a 10.9% market share, down 0.3 percentage points year-on-year.
