The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 4.3%, with companies including SanDisk moving lower.
On the Singapore Exchange, Nikkei 225 index futures fell by 1,150 points to 65,855.
The Nikkei 225 index closed down 2.8% on Thursday at 66,835.54, marking its lowest closing level since July 8th.
