Yanji Authorities Conduct Quality and Safety Inspections on Dental Clinic Medical Equipment

The Yanji Municipal Market Supervision Administration in Jilin Province has recently carried out targeted inspections on the quality and safety of medical devices used within dental clinics in its jurisdiction. This initiative aims to standardize the safe use of medical equipment in dental treatment facilities, strengthen the quality and safety framework for such devices, and ensure public safety in medical settings.

The inspections focused on high-risk and frequently used items, including dental implants, custom dentures, disposable oral instrument kits, root canal filling materials, and dental treatment units. The process involved on-site verification, reviewing records, and physical checks to examine the entire lifecycle management of medical devices, from procurement and acceptance to storage, maintenance, and traceability.

Enforcement officers specifically verified supplier qualifications, product registration certificates, proof of compliance, and purchase invoices. They rigorously investigated illegal procurement channels and the use of unregistered, expired, invalid, or obsolete medical equipment. Clinics were strictly urged to implement purchase verification and record-keeping systems to ensure device traceability and alignment between invoices, accounts, and physical stock.

On-site assessments covered the storage environment for medical devices, temperature and humidity control, as well as equipment maintenance and calibration records. Simultaneously, officials promoted relevant regulations such as the "Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices" and the "Measures for the Supervision and Administration of the Quality of Medical Device Use," guiding clinics to improve their quality management systems and reinforce primary responsibility.

To date, five dental clinics have been inspected. For issues identified, such as non-standard record-keeping and substandard storage conditions, rectification opinions were issued on-site with clear deadlines and requirements to ensure the elimination of potential safety hazards.

Moving forward, the Yanji Municipal Market Supervision Administration will continue its inspections of medical devices in dental clinics, crack down on various illegal and non-compliant activities, and work to standardize the order of medical device use in dental treatments, thereby creating a safer and more reliable healthcare environment for the public.
