On October 21 at 11:30 AM, the "COSCO Felixstowe," carrying New Zealand's characteristic dairy products and handicrafts for the 8th China International Import Expo, safely docked at Waigaoqiao Phase II terminal. At this time, law enforcement officers from the Pudong Maritime Bureau and the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station had already been on site, fully prepared for joint boarding inspections to ensure the smooth entry of exhibits and their subsequent transport processes.
To support the safe arrival and smooth customs clearance of vessels carrying exhibits for the 8th CIIE, the Pudong Maritime Bureau and the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station relied on their established port coordination law enforcement mechanism. The inspection units opened a green channel for CIIE vessels, fully safeguarding vessel safety and ensuring the efficient customs clearance of exhibits.
The two agencies adopted several measures based on their cooperative law enforcement mechanism to jointly support the CIIE. They established a "CIIE Dedicated Channel" to give priority to CIIE vessels entering the port and streamline their exhibition setup processes. By communicating in advance with local shipping companies, they ensured real-time awareness of the travel dynamics of vessels carrying CIIE exhibits. Comprehensive protection for these vessels was conducted through electronic patrols, waterway patrols, and CCTV monitoring, ensuring their safety during transit.
Prior to the arrival of CIIE vessels, both agencies scientifically devised a joint boarding inspection plan, swiftly executing their inspection tasks upon the vessels' arrival at port. During the inspection, Pudong Maritime Bureau's Lingqiao law enforcement officers paid special attention to verifying vessel certificates, seaworthiness, crew qualifications, and cargo suitability. They carried out routine checks on the AIS, VHF, and medium-high frequency equipment in the cockpit to ensure they were operational.
After the inspections, officers patiently guided the vessel operators on rectifying any identified safety hazards and communicated the relevant safety regulations and requirements during the CIIE. Throughout the joint inspection process, the Pudong Maritime Bureau and the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station emphasized information sharing and efficient collaboration, promptly completing verification procedures to ensure that CIIE exhibits could be quickly unloaded and transported to their destinations.
A relevant official from the Pudong Maritime Bureau stated: "Maritime and border inspection authorities will continually optimize and enhance the coordinated law enforcement mechanism, working together to open and safeguard the CIIE green channel, ensuring seamless connections in transportation, customs clearance, unloading, and transshipment of exhibits, while providing strong support for the rapid customs clearance of CIIE vessels and contributing to the successful hosting of the 8th CIIE."
