On July 25th at 8:20 AM, the Y933 "New Oriental Express" tourism train departed from Urumqi Station, marking the 15th tourism train service launched by Xinjiang Railway authorities since the start of this year's summer season.
During this year's summer period, Xinjiang Railway plans to operate 28 tourism trains, with the launch of the 15th service arriving 10 days earlier than last year. Over 60 tourists will embark on a 12-day journey covering nearly 4,000 kilometers, exploring more than ten renowned scenic spots along the Tianshan Mountains, including Kanas, Nalati, Koktokay, and the Kashgar Ancient City.
This train follows a "Northern and Southern Xinjiang Grand Loop" itinerary, offering both the lake and mountain scenery of Northern Xinjiang and the folk culture of Southern Xinjiang. The train primarily operates on a "travel by day, rest by night" model, where passengers disembark for sightseeing during the day and rest on board at night, minimizing long-distance travel fatigue.
The "New Oriental Express" branded train is equipped with professional chefs, onboard tour guides, and medical support staff, with carriages featuring private bathrooms and butler-style attentive service. "We are not simply providing transportation for tourists; we have moved a complete, customized travel plan covering food, accommodation, transport, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment onto thousands of miles of railway tracks," said Lin Wen, Party Branch Secretary of the Tourism Business Department at Xinjiang Railway Tourism Development Group Co., Ltd.
During visits to Kanas and Hemu, tourists will venture into the grasslands to experience the life of local herders. In Kashgar, activities include night tours of the ancient city and free time at the bazaar market. Railway authorities have proactively coordinated with scenic spots and hotels along the route to offer a one-stop travel product, where tourists need not worry about any aspect of meals, accommodation, transport, or scenic visits once they join the tour.
It is reported that Xinjiang Railway plans to operate 100 tourism trains this year, with 56 already running and serving over 17,000 passengers. The train routes cover the entire Tianshan region, and tourists can also choose to join tours exclusively for Northern or Southern Xinjiang based on their travel needs. The newly upgraded "New Oriental Express" brand tourism train this year also provides tourists with a high-quality travel experience.
