According to information obtained by reporters from DiDi Global Inc. on October 8, during the National Day holiday period, domestic ride-hailing orders increased by 7% year-on-year, while demand for rides in non-home cities rose 54% compared to ordinary days, with cross-border travel, county-level tourism and cultural and museum visits all gaining strong momentum.
This year, thanks to the "super-long holiday," people had the opportunity to travel farther. Data from DiDi Global Inc. shows that orders placed by Chinese users using DiDi ride-hailing services in Latin American countries increased by 90% year-on-year. Orders from users entering China who used DiDi rose 62% year-on-year. Beyond classic landmarks such as the Great Wall and the Bund, destinations like the Liziba monorail passing through a building, the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall and distinctive streets in various regions also made it onto their destination lists, sustaining the popularity of "China Travel."
Slower-paced county-level tourism was also a trend for travel during this year's National Day holiday. According to DiDi Global Inc. data, orders for nearby trips, defined as rides within 300 kilometers of a user's usual city of residence, accounted for 38% of the total, making up the main share of travel. On DiDi Hitch, short-distance orders within 300 kilometers accounted for 94%, an increase compared with the same period last year. Fenghuang County in Xiangxi, Hunan; Burqin County in Altay, Xinjiang; Yixian County in Huangshan, Anhui; Yangshuo County in Guilin, Guangxi; and Shangri-La in Diqing, Yunnan were among the places listed on DiDi's National Day holiday travel report ranking of the country's top 100 most attractive tourism counties.
In addition, traditional culture is becoming an important theme for young people's travel. DiDi Global Inc. data shows that compared with ordinary days, orders to science and education-related visiting venues increased by 112% during this year's National Day holiday, while demand for rides to museums rose 97%.
