Baguio Green Group Releases 2025 Sustainability Report: 43% Cut in Carbon Intensity, New Climate Committee Formed

Baguio Green Group has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining substantial progress across climate governance, emissions reduction and operational efficiency.

Climate Governance Strengthened • A Climate Committee, chaired by the CEO and including independent non-executive directors, was created to oversee climate-related strategy and risk. • Four Sustainability Steering Committee meetings, two Climate Committee meetings and four ESG Working Group sessions were held during the year. • Climate-related risks have been embedded in the enterprise risk management system, with scenario analyses aligned to IFRS S2 requirements.

Carbon and Energy Performance • Scope 1 and 2 carbon-emission intensity fell 43 % versus the 2016 baseline, surpassing the company’s 2030 target of a 30 % cut. • Energy-consumption intensity declined 42 % from 2016, also exceeding the 30 % reduction goal set for 2030. • Absolute emissions for 2025 were 13,869 tCO₂e, comprising 8,828.63 tCO₂e (Scope 1), 437.86 tCO₂e (Scope 2) and 4,602.91 tCO₂e (reported Scope 3 categories).

Low-Carbon Operations • The Green Fleet programme expanded to 17 electric vehicles (14 saloon cars, 3 light goods vehicles) and initiated biodiesel (B5) trials. • Smart fleet tools now include a driving-offence points module and digital vehicle-inspection and maintenance apps.

Resource and Waste Management • Total energy use decreased 6 % year on year to 34.40 million kWh. • Water consumption fell to 9,510 m³. • 21.01 % of non-hazardous waste generated by offices and facilities was recycled; 16,587.6 tons of community recyclables were processed. • Six subsidiaries retained ISO 14001 certification; the Pilot Biochar Production Plant at EcoPark became operational, converting yard waste into biochar.

Workforce Health & Safety • No work-related fatalities were recorded; the accident rate stood at 1.14 cases per 100,000 working hours. • All outdoor employees received heat-stress prevention training; smart watches and automated SMS alerts were deployed for extreme-weather safety.

Supply Chain & Digitalisation • A “Green Product List” grew to 183 items, triple last year’s count, and 52 key suppliers underwent face-to-face sustainability evaluations. • Subsidiaries secured ISO 27001 and ISO 20000 certifications to reinforce information-security and IT-service standards. • Smart solutions such as IoT-enabled toilets, intelligent rodent traps and ground-penetrating-radar tree inspections enhanced service quality.

Community Engagement • Employees logged 1,134.5 volunteer hours and HKD 0.35 million in donations and fundraising. • The group hosted or joined more than 300 green events, including facility tours, recycling days and industry seminars.

Awards & Recognition • Honors included the TVB ESG Special Recognition (Merit), Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence – Bronze (Environmental Industry) and multiple Caring Company accolades across subsidiaries.

Baguio reaffirmed its “For a Greener Tomorrow” vision, emphasising technology-driven environmental solutions and sustained stakeholder collaboration to maintain competitiveness in Hong Kong’s environmental-services sector.
