Honda Stock Surges as Automaker Plans to Merge With Nissan in 2026

U.S.-listed shares of Honda surged 20.4% this week as the Japanese automaker and Nissan announced plans to merge.

The sides signed a memorandum of understanding Monday, with plans to finalize details in June 2025 and merge in August 2026.

The companies said it will be decided by the end of January whether Mitsubishi will be included in the merger, while Honda also announced a new stock buyback plan.

Toyota Stock Surges on Reported Plans to Raise Its Return on Equity

U.S.-traded shares of Toyota surged 12% this week following a report from Nikkei that the carmaker is aiming for a 20% return on equity.

Analysts were reportedly anticipating an 11% return on equity this fiscal year.

The news comes days after an announcement that two of Toyota's rivals, Honda and Nissan, are planning on merging.

Broadcom Stock Jumps as Analysts Remain Optimistic

Broadcom shares jumped 9.5% this week as analysts remained optimistic.

UBS has increased the price target for Broadcom shares to $270.00, up from the previous target of $220.00, while maintaining a Buy rating on the stock.

Morgan Stanley also chose Broadcom as one of its favorite ideas for 2025. Analyst Joseph Moore likes Broadcom for its growth opportunity beyond 2025.

Rocket Lab Stock Spent Most of Christmas Week Opening Presents

Rocket Lab stock spent most of Christmas week opening presents from its PR department, which posted on X about how well things went for the company in 2024 -- 16 rocket launches, a growing business providing solar power panels for spacecraft, and an accelerating cadence of rocket launches in the year's final weeks. The shares jumped 9.5% this week.

LI Auto Stock Jumps As CEO Forecasts 50% Odds for AI Sports Car in 2030, Robots R&D in Future for Sure

Li Auto shares gained 8.2% this week.

Li Auto will develop robots, especially humanoid robots, LI AUTO-W CEO Li Xiang said in the 2024 Li Auto AI Talk that it is something that will definitely happen with 100% odds, but the timing is yet to come.

When asked if LI AUTO-W will keep the name “LI AUTO” if it transformed into an AI company, Li said that LI AUTO-W is essentially an AI company, and that its goal is not just to make cars intelligent, but to promote the deep integration of AI and automobiles, to realize the automatization of AI, and to popularize this technology in every household.

The CEO revealed that half of LI AUTO-W's RMB10 billion a year in R&D is invested in AI, and there 50% odds that the company will make a very interesting super sports car by 2030, and it must be an AI sports car.

GameStop Shares Jump Fueled By Roaring Kitty's “Christmas Present“

GameStop shares jumped 8% this week following an initial surge driven by social media activity.

The stock’s rise was triggered by a post from Keith Gill, also known as “Roaring Kitty,” who shared a mysterious image on X, formerly known as Twitter. This post, made on Dec. 25, featured a wrapped ‘Christmas Present' and sparked speculation among retail investors.

Meme stocks like GameStop often gain momentum through viral popularity and speculative trading, which are heavily influenced by social media and active retail communities.
