Dossen Group Mobilizes Full Force to Aid Guangxi in Flood Relief Efforts

Deep News07-10 15:43

Persistent heavy rainfall triggered by Typhoon Maysak has recently struck multiple regions in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, including Nanning, Guigang, Qinzhou, and Fangchenggang, leading to severe flooding and a critical flood control and disaster relief situation.

In response to the disaster, as a leading Chinese hotel group with roots in Guangxi, the alumni enterprise Dossen Group immediately activated its emergency response plan.

The company coordinated manpower, materials, and logistics across its brands, mobilizing dozens of properties from its chains such as City Comfort, Yishang, and Boman to work in unison.

Group management rushed to the front lines overnight, while numerous franchisees and frontline staff held their posts, collectively establishing a protective line for affected residents and rescue teams, demonstrating the responsibility of a local enterprise standing with Guangxi through thick and thin.

Racing Against Time to Deliver Aid

On the evening of July 6th, upon learning that torrential rains in Guangxi had caused water, power, and internet outages at several of its properties, leading to stranded guests and dwindling supplies, Dossen Group director and CEO of the City Comfort brand, Ruan Qingmiao, led a team to set off immediately.

With local high-speed rail services suspended, the team drove overnight from Guangzhou to Guigang in Guangxi.

En route, they coordinated support with local military units, government agencies, and rescue organizations in the group's name while maintaining contact with the affected hotels.

Blocked by multiple flooded roads, the team, after several detours and with assistance from the fire department, transferred to assault boats to navigate two neck-deep flooded sections, ultimately delivering urgently needed supplies to the most severely impacted City Comfort Guigang Sports Center University Town store, which housed the largest number of stranded individuals, handing them directly to the store manager, franchisee, and guests holding the fort.

Opening Hotel Facilities as Safe Havens

Since the flooding began, all staff at the City Comfort Guigang Sports Center University Town store have persevered under immense pressure, doing their utmost to shelter people despite shortages and isolation.

Upon arrival, the relief team promptly implemented warm, convenient support services, offering free public assistance to all stranded guests and nearby affected residents.

This included opening the lobby for temporary rest, providing complimentary hot drinks, tea, and bottled water for hydration, offering device charging to address power outages, opening public restrooms, and supplying a free first-aid kit, comprehensively alleviating hardships and conveying warmth.

At the scene, the relief team met store manager Lü Xianjun and franchisee Mr. Liao, who had been battling the floods on the front lines for days, along with safely stranded guests.

All were moved by the contrast between the merciless flood and the compassion shown, mutually encouraging each other and strengthening their collective resolve and confidence to overcome the crisis.

In Fangchenggang, the Yishang Hotel Dongxing Port Municipal Government store, also affected by flooding, prioritized opening its lobby, meeting rooms, and rest areas to PLA soldiers, armed police, and fire rescue personnel on the front lines as temporary assembly and rest points while completing its own recovery efforts.

It also urgently allocated its bottled water inventory to set up a "free water pickup point for rescue personnel" and coordinated the distribution of emergency umbrellas to various duty posts, addressing the immediate need for shelter from the elements.

Currently, lobbies of all Yishang hotels in Guangxi are open around the clock to the public, offering free services like drinking water, hot ginger tea, laundry and drying, charging, and rest.

Similar actions unfolded at City Comfort and Boman properties: the severely affected City Comfort Guigang Sports Center University Town store, despite its own supply constraints, took in many nearby residents seeking refuge.

Multiple Boman hotels also provided力所能及的 assistance such as drinking water, free charging, first-aid kits, and meal heating to stranded passersby.

By opening lobbies, supplying materials, and sheltering people, Dossen Group demonstrated with action that in the face of storms, its properties are not merely business venues but reliable "safe harbors" the public can turn to at any time.

Maintaining an Unbroken Line of Safety

Faced with sudden water, power, and communication outages, all employees and franchisees at Dossen Group's Guangxi properties stood their ground.

Statistics show that among the six affected City Comfort stores in Guigang, acting store manager Li Lili and her team held fast at the Tangren Street store, quickly restoring normal operations after a brief suspension.

At the Minzu Park store, manager Li Dongqin, with staff unable to report for duty, operated at full capacity for three consecutive days with only three hours of rest per day.

Manager Wang Chaoqin at the International Life Port High-Speed Rail Station store developed allergies after being immersed in floodwaters all day; despite a doctor's advice to return to Nanning for treatment, she insisted on helping guests relocate, moving colleagues with her simple statement: "As long as one guest remains, I must stay and guard my post. At most, I'll just try to stay out of the water.".

While organizing guest transfers, City Select Guigang Municipal Government Wanda store manager Zhang Rixing waded through water to personally visit other affected nearby stores, becoming a crucial information link between the district and the properties.

Currently, two of the six Guigang stores have resumed normal operations, guests from three others have been safely relocated, and over 50 stranded guests at the remaining store have received supplemental supplies, with the overall situation stable.

At Boman hotels in Guigang, Nanning, and Hengzhou, staff simultaneously organized water cleanup, maintained basic operations, reassured stranded guests, and found ways to ensure free, safe meal provisions.

The group also implemented a free cancellation and modification policy for guests with bookings in affected areas, minimizing their losses.

Though each property faced different dangers, their shared steadfastness collectively upheld the service front during the storm.

The scenes of racing against time to deliver supplies from Guigang and Fangchenggang to Nanning became the warmest force in this cross-brand relief effort.

Looking back over the group's two-decade history, at countless critical social junctures—from aiding Hubei's medical front and the Henan floods to plunging into the heart of Guangxi's disaster—Dossen has always stepped forward at the first moment, heeding government calls, uniformly directing its properties to open spaces and provide supplies, becoming a refuge for the public.

Whether facing storms or pandemics, Dossen never remains a bystander but consistently mobilizes its full corporate strength to stand, strive, and emerge from adversity alongside the people.

It is worth noting that Ruan Qingmiao, fighting on the front lines, redefined this relief effort with Dossen's "Daming Mountain Spirit": "Problems will always arise in various forms. As long as we stay focused, remain determined in our goals, and dare to draw our swords, we will surely emerge from the fog and stride toward new victory!" This spirit, backed by concrete action, has inspired everyone at Dossen.

Currently, flood relief work in Guangxi remains intense.

As a hotel enterprise that started in and grew alongside Guangxi, Dossen Group will continue monitoring the disaster's development, coordinating its brands and properties for follow-up support and safeguards to protect the lives and property of its employees and guests.

Based on actual needs, the group will leverage its full corporate resources to provide manpower and material support to affected areas.

Together with its brand properties and numerous franchisees, it will uphold the corporate spirit of mutual aid and overcoming difficulties together, fulfilling its corporate responsibility and brand初心 through practical action, walking hand in hand with the people of Guangxi through the storm.
