ECB's Schnabel Sees No Near-Term Rate Hikes But Warns Inflation May Force Future Increases

European Central Bank policymaker Isabel Schnabel stated in a Monday interview that while she does not anticipate rate hikes in the foreseeable future, persistent inflationary pressures may ultimately necessitate higher borrowing costs.

"In my view, an interest rate increase in the foreseeable future is rather unlikely," Schnabel said. "However, I also believe we will face inflationary forces that could eventually require rates to rise again."
