Oracle (ORCL.US) and BorderPlex Digital Assets have jointly announced the adoption of fuel cells from Bloom Energy (BE.US) to provide a complete power supply for the planned multibillion-dollar Project Jupiter AI data center campus, located in New Mexico, USA. Following the announcement, Bloom Energy's stock rose nearly 4% in after-hours trading.
This collaboration represents a key implementation of the previously announced strategic partnership between the two companies. The firms stated that Project Jupiter will install Bloom Energy fuel cells with a total capacity of up to 2.45 gigawatts, replacing the originally planned use of gas turbines and diesel generators. The entire data center will be integrated into a single microgrid campus.
The companies highlighted that utilizing the Bloom Energy microgrid will significantly reduce emissions and lower water consumption. Compared to the original gas turbine plan, Project Jupiter, with the new fuel cell microgrid, will cut nitrogen oxide emissions by 92% and reduce water usage to nearly negligible levels.
Oracle confirmed that it will continue to bear all energy costs for Project Jupiter, ensuring that the initiative does not impact local residents' electricity prices or grid stability.
