九月的第一个星期一是美国的劳工节（Labor Day），在1894年被确立为美国的国家节日，即美国的劳动节。
这一天，全美各地民众一般都会举行游行、集会等各种庆祝活动，以示对劳工的尊重。在一些州，人们在游行之后还要举办野餐会，热闹地吃喝、唱歌、跳舞。入夜，有的地方还会放焰火。
