As the bright moon rises over the sea, loved ones share the moment from afar. Today marks the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, as we welcome the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. In recent days, communities across Tongshan have been organizing a series of themed Mid-Autumn activities to promote traditional culture and create a rich festive atmosphere.
In Xinqu Subdistrict, a DIY baking event titled "Full Moon Mid-Autumn, Sweet Baking Companion" was organized, drawing many residents to join in a sweet Mid-Autumn celebration. The activity strengthened emotional exchanges among neighbors and effectively enhanced residents' sense of belonging and happiness in the area.
In Sanbao Subdistrict, a Mid-Autumn themed civic practice activity called "Reunion of Home and Country, Warmth for Children's Hearts" was held, integrating a visit to a special exhibition on the spirit of Wang Jie, a classroom on the Long March spirit and national defense education, and Mid-Autumn traditional Chinese medicine intangible cultural heritage handicraft activities, creating a strong festive atmosphere of unity between home and country and harmonious civilization.
In Liguo Town, a Mid-Autumn care activity for children in difficulty was carried out, inviting more than twenty children in difficult circumstances to participate in a handmade mooncake-making experience and feel the charm of traditional culture. Staff presented holiday gifts to the children and accompanied them in celebrating the festival.
In Liuji Town, to promote the traditional virtue of respecting and caring for the elderly, Guoqiao Village in Liuji Town carried out a Mid-Autumn condolence activity, delivering mooncakes and holiday blessings to villagers aged 70 and above.
The District Library hosted a Mid-Autumn cultural gathering titled "Han Style Autumn Moon," centered on the themes of "lecturing, reciting, appreciating, and crafting." The event explained Mid-Autumn folk customs such as moon viewing and family reunion, recited Mid-Autumn poetry, and involved hands-on crafting of osmanthus-scented handmade soap, offering an immersive experience of life aesthetics.
