Meituan: Influencer Zhang Detained for Spreading False "Merchants Boycott Platform" Rumor to Sell Courses

On February 3rd, Meituan's official account "Xiaotuan Youhua Shuo" released a statement revealing that the Cyberspace Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security had issued a notice. The notice addressed a piece of information regarding "food delivery merchants collectively withdrawing from delivery platforms in Ningbo," which had attracted significant public attention and spread widely among merchants and delivery riders. Following verification by relevant authorities, it was confirmed that food delivery operations in the Ningbo area have been running normally since last year, with no instances of merchants voluntarily exiting due to partnership issues, let alone any collective withdrawal. The circulated information was deemed severely misleading.

An investigation by relevant departments determined that starting in December 2025, an internet user named Zhang (female, 45 years old), in an effort to create hype, gain attention, attract traffic, and profit from selling commercial courses such as "Profit Growth Classes," "Consulting Solution Classes," and "Chain MBA Classes," deliberately fabricated and disseminated a series of false information, including the claim of "food delivery merchants collectively delisting from the platform." This action sparked widespread concern among netizens and disrupted order in cyberspace. Currently, the public security authorities have taken administrative action by detaining Zhang in accordance with the law.
