Dense Fog Disrupts Shipping, Waigaoqiao Border Checkpoint Ensures Smooth Port Operations

Deep News05-25 11:50

Due to heavy fog, approximately 40 international vessels at Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port area had to postpone or cancel their scheduled berthing or departure plans as of 11:00 AM on May 25th. In response to the fog-induced vessel delays and cancellations, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station promptly activated its severe weather contingency plan. The station is closely monitoring maritime import and export vessel movement information, accurately tracking changes to vessel arrival and departure schedules. It is also disseminating weather updates and便民措施 (facilitation measures) to shipping companies through various channels. Concurrently, patrols and inspections of personnel and vehicles within the port area have been intensified to effectively mitigate potential risks. Moving forward, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station will continue to closely monitor fog conditions. It will adjust police resource deployment in a timely manner to manage the anticipated peak in vessel traffic once the fog dissipates. Adhering to the principles of "safety, orderliness, and batch疏导 (guidance/management)," the station aims to ensure swift vessel arrivals and departures,全力维护 (fully maintain) orderly port clearance operations, and strive to minimize the impact of fog-related shipping delays.
