You.com is increasingly targeting business customers, placing it in more direct competition with OpenAI, as the company announces a change in its Chief Technology Officer.
The AI startup You.com, which reached a valuation of $1.5 billion after a funding round last September, has made executive changes as it focuses on helping businesses implement artificial intelligence.
According to its LinkedIn profile, You.com co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Bryan McCann recently left the company to join Anthropic as a technical staff member. In a blog post, You.com co-founder and CEO Richard Socher announced that early engineer Saahil Jain has been promoted to CTO.
The leadership change comes as You.com, which began in consumer search, is shifting its focus more toward enterprise clients, offering tools for document analysis and report generation. This strategic pivot puts You.com in more direct competition with larger AI startups like OpenAI and Databricks.
According to a person familiar with the matter, Socher, a former chief scientist at Salesforce, is planning to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for a new AI research startup that he will manage. Socher stated that he will continue to serve as CEO of You.com.
