This year's World Food Day theme is "Innovate Now, Secure Food for the Future." As rice paddies fill the air with fragrance, on the occasion of the 46th World Food Day, Maguan County organized staff to visit schools and villages to carry out food security awareness activities under the theme of "Innovate Now, Secure Food for the Future," guiding the general public to cherish food and adopt scientific diets, joining hands to strengthen the food security defense line.

In a sixth-grade classroom at Mabai Central School in Mabai Town, the verses of "Sympathy for the Peasants" echoed through the class as a food security-themed class meeting was underway. The teacher used easy-to-understand language and vivid PPT presentations to explain the importance of food security to students, popularize whole grain nutrition knowledge, and encourage children to develop good habits of saving food and clearing their plates from an early age. "Through this class, I understood the importance of saving food. Saving food starts with each and every one of us," said Zhu Meiqi, a sixth-grade student at Mabai Central School.

Staff then visited Wenhua Village, distributing leaflets, conducting household visits, and engaging in face-to-face exchanges to popularize laws and regulations related to food security and the concept of healthy whole grain diets among villagers. They explained practical knowledge such as reducing grain storage losses and eliminating food waste in dining, guiding villagers to establish awareness of cherishing, saving, and valuing food, and integrating food security into daily life. Villager Wang Shaozhong of Wenhua First Village said: "My family had a good corn harvest this year, bringing in 120 bags, plus 42 bags of rice, all stored separately. After listening to the presentation, I learned more methods for grain storage."

This awareness campaign further enhanced students' and grassroots residents' understanding of food security, whole grain initiatives, and grain conservation and loss reduction, creating a good atmosphere of nationwide food cherishing and conservation. "Next, we will carry out campaigns in various forms to make saving food a conscious action of the people, jointly safeguarding the 'big country's granary' and contributing to ensuring national food security," said Zhong Shaogui, grain quality officer at Maguan Huiji Grain and Oil Storage Co., Ltd.

Every bowl of rice and every meal should remind us of the hardship behind it. Food security cannot be achieved without the participation of every citizen. Here, we propose: First, be a guardian of farmland, consciously resisting farmland abandonment and illegal occupation of cultivated land. Second, be a practitioner of grain conservation, embracing the clean plate campaign, ordering only what you need, and refusing waste at the dining table. Third, be a scientific consumer, understanding the nutritional value of whole grains and establishing healthy and balanced dietary concepts. Fourth, be a food security advocate, actively sharing food security knowledge and inspiring those around you to cherish, save, and protect food. We call on the general public to start from every meal, save food, scientifically consume whole grains, and jointly safeguard our "rice bowl." Food security is everyone's responsibility; reducing grain loss starts with me.
