Guangzhou Trade Fair Phase One Ends, Foreign Passenger Traffic at Shenzhen Airport Increases by 40%

Deep News10-20

The first phase of the 138th Guangzhou Trade Fair concluded on October 19, with the Shenzhen Border Inspection Station reporting a 40% year-on-year increase in foreign passenger traffic at Shenzhen Airport as of October 19. The peak daily passenger flow also saw a 50% rise compared to normal days, with high influx periods recorded from 5 AM to 7 AM, 12 PM to 1 PM, and 4 PM to 6 PM.

As the airport nearest to the fair, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport offers a variety of international flights and convenient entry policies, attracting many foreign visitors attending the trade event. From October 13 to 19, the total number of foreign arrivals checked in was up 54% year-on-year, with 64% of visitors entering visa-free, marking a 128% increase. A significant number of these travelers were from Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, and other nations, and expectations for an even higher increase in foreign visitors for the upcoming second and third phases of the fair were shared by Xu Yunhua, Deputy Team Leader of the Shenzhen Airport Border Inspection Station.

On the afternoon of October 20, streams of passengers processed at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport continued unabated. In just one hour, four incoming flights brought around 800 travelers to the immigration hall, with 40% identified as foreign travelers, many of whom were attending the 138th Guangzhou Trade Fair.

"This is my first time in China, traveling with my family for 12 days. The visa exemption policy is very convenient and saves us a lot of time," said Malaysian traveler Ian Chin. "We plan to visit the trade fair because I'm very interested in high-tech products and want to see more there."

Mexican traveler Alejandro, also visiting the fair for the first time, stated, "Our company primarily deals in electronic equipment. China's development is very rapid. We hope to discover more business opportunities and expand our sales channels through this trade fair."

To ensure efficient and smooth passage through the port, the Shenzhen Airport Border Inspection Station has strengthened communication with the airport and airlines to dynamically monitor flight conditions, optimize on-site operations, and implement a zone-based inspection model for foreigners. They are also providing dedicated on-site assistance, language translation, and policy interpretation to facilitate a pleasant entry and exit experience.
