Foreign investor buying of Korean equities has driven a sharp rally in the won, with the currency's advance widening to 1.5 percent, marking its strongest single-day gain in five weeks.
The won strengthened as much as 1.5 percent against the U.S. dollar, reaching 1,352.90, a performance that outpaced all other Asian currencies.
