ByteDance and CXMT Sign Five-Year Memory Supply Deal Worth Over $70 Billion, Boosting Monthly Output Past 600,000 Wafers

According to the latest industry reports, ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has signed a five-year long-term supply agreement with ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, valued at over $70 billion (approximately 475 billion yuan).

The report also notes that CXMT had previously planned to expand overseas and enter the US memory chip market. However, its current production capacity is almost entirely occupied by the surging domestic demand related to AI computing power, leaving little room for advance international expansion.

CXMT is currently building two new production plants simultaneously in Shanghai and Hefei, Anhui. Once both projects are fully operational, CXMT's total capacity will double, with monthly wafer output exceeding 600,000 units.

A source close to CXMT's core supply chain indicated that if the expansion plan proceeds smoothly, CXMT's overall capacity could surpass that of global memory giant Micron before 2030.

According to statistics from market research firm Omdia, based on global DRAM sales revenue in the fourth quarter of 2025, CXMT's global market share has grown to 7.67%, ranking fourth worldwide and first in China, widening the gap with other domestic memory manufacturers.

In the Chinese market, CXMT has become the largest, most technologically advanced, and most comprehensively integrated DRAM research, development, and manufacturing company. This massive long-term order from ByteDance marks a significant milestone: domestically produced memory chips are now formally entering the core server supply chains of major internet technology companies, breaking the long-standing monopoly held by foreign players in the high-end DRAM market.
