Thailand's Prime Minister Vows Crackdown on Fuel Smuggling and Hoarding

Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced on Friday that authorities will launch investigations into petroleum smuggling and hoarding activities. During a press conference, Anutin stated that offenders will face the most severe legal penalties. He emphasized that the government is intensifying efforts to curb hoarding, price gouging, and fuel smuggling to neighboring countries. Anutin identified these practices as contributing factors to the recent domestic fuel shortages. Police officials present at the briefing confirmed that investigations have already uncovered evidence of fuel hoarding and smuggling at gas stations along the Myanmar border.
