Changbai Mountain Airport Sees Monthly Passenger Traffic Surpass 200,000 for the First Time

Deep News03-04

In February 2026, driven by the dual engines of winter travel and the Spring Festival holiday period, Changbai Mountain Airport achieved a milestone by handling over 200,000 passengers in a single month for the first time. This performance placed it 75th among airports nationwide and marked the strongest monthly result since the airport began operations. February represented the peak travel period for the airport, which facilitated a total of 1,448 flights and served 206,337 passengers. These figures reflect year-on-year increases of 50.83% and 48.09%, respectively. The airport ranked first in passenger traffic among regional airports in Northeast China, underscoring its growing influence as a key regional air hub. Daily operational records were repeatedly broken, with flight movements reaching 57 on February 14 and passenger volume hitting 9,065 on February 23, both setting new historical highs. During the Spring Festival holiday alone, the airport managed 472 flights and 70,837 passengers, representing increases of 3.28% and 8.52% compared to the same period last year, providing core support for the month's overall passenger surge. To meet strong market demand, Changbai Mountain Airport collaborated with 10 airlines to operate 15 routes connecting 14 destinations. New services were added in February, including operations by Shanghai Airlines and Sichuan Airlines, with new routes to Shanghai Hongqiao, Chongqing, and Changsha. Flights on the Shanghai route were increased to 10 per day, covering both Hongqiao and Pudong international airports. Services to Nanjing were raised to three daily flights, while routes to key cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou were all increased to two flights per day, comprehensively addressing diverse passenger travel needs.
