Huaneng Power Issues RMB3.00 Billion Super Short-Term Commercial Papers at 1.33% Coupon

Huaneng Power International, Inc. (HUANENG POWER) has completed the placement of its eighth tranche of super short-term commercial papers for 2026, raising RMB3.00 billion through a domestic book-building process.

The notes carry a 90-day tenor and a coupon rate of 1.33%. Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Co., Ltd. and China Bohai Bank Co., Ltd. acted as joint lead underwriters, forming the underwriting syndicate for the transaction. The proceeds will be used to supplement working capital, optimise the debt mix, and repay outstanding bank loans and maturing obligations.

The issuance falls within the financing mandate approved at the company’s 2024 annual general meeting on 24 June 2025, which authorises Huaneng Power to raise up to RMB170.00 billion in outstanding domestic and overseas debt instruments on a rolling basis until the 2025 annual general meeting.

Documentation related to the new debentures has been published on the websites of China Money (www.chinamoney.com.cn) and Shanghai Clearing House (www.shclearing.com.cn). According to the company, the transaction does not constitute a notifiable or connected transaction under Chapters 14 or 14A of the Hong Kong Listing Rules.
