GigaDevice (HKEX: 03986) saw its share price surge 8.31% by midday, trading at HK$498 with a turnover of HK$21.61 billion. The rally followed a strong overnight performance by US AI concept stocks, with the memory sector leading gains. SK Hynix ADRs jumped over 8%, SanDisk rose more than 10%, and Micron Technology gained over 7%.
TrendForce analysts predict the DRAM supply shortage will persist until 2027, with price increases expected to continue through the second half of that year. BOCOM International also believes the overall memory market supply-demand imbalance could last until the fourth quarter of 2027, and even if prices later decline, the changes are likely to be more moderate than in previous cycles.
On August 4, GigaDevice announced a deep technical partnership with Elektrobit, a global leader in automotive embedded connectivity software and solutions. The two companies completed the adaptation and verification of GigaDevice's GD32A7 series automotive-grade MCUs with Elektrobit's EB tresos Classic AUTOSAR solution. This collaboration aims to create a standardized, integrated in-vehicle development platform, enhancing the domestic automotive chip software ecosystem and accelerating the growth of China's automotive electronics industry.
