As the critical period for spring fruit tree management arrives, farmers in Kulun Banner, Tongliao City are seizing the agricultural season to prune and tend to their orchards. Jiang Jiuru and his family in Baimiaozi Gacha, Kulun Town, are meticulously thinning branches and scientifically shaping their trees. Adhering strictly to the "one cut, one disinfect" protocol, they promptly treat cut and saw wounds with chemicals to effectively reduce the orchard's pest and disease base, aiming to produce high-quality fruit and secure better prices this year.
Having cultivated Andaihong apples for seven years, Jiang's family achieved a yield of over 4,000 pounds per mu in 2025 through scientific pruning management. "Last year's harvest was good—my ten mu of land yielded nearly 50,000 pounds in total, generating over 100,000 yuan in income," Jiang noted. "Pruning strengthens the trees and improves fruit quality, ensuring increased production and income. The technique requires skill, so we follow technical guidance step by step and learn maintenance methods from experts."
Many fruit farmers in Kulun Banner share Jiang's approach. Andaihong apple, a specialty forest fruit brand registered by the banner in 2022 and originally known as Jixin fruit or Jinxiu海棠, has seen sustained support through specialized technical training and field guidance from experts. These efforts enhance farmers' comprehensive management capabilities. Currently, spring pruning is progressing orderly across more than 20,000 mu of Andaihong apple trees in the banner, laying a solid foundation for a fruitful year and increased prosperity for orchardists.
