A Cross-Border Cultural Dialogue and Industrial Exchange

Deep News12-11

On December 7, diplomats visited the Handan Dao Historical and Cultural Block, marking the beginning of the "Opportunity China—2025 Diplomatic Envoys' Handan Tour" event. Envoys from over ten countries, including the Solomon Islands, Vietnam, Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba, Iraq, the Bahamas, Namibia, Turkey, Tunisia, and Mongolia, explored Handan's cultural heritage and industrial vitality through visits to historical sites, museums, and leading enterprises.

At the Handan Museum, diplomats delved into the city’s millennia-old civilization. Exhibits such as pottery from the Cishan Culture and bronze wine vessels from the Shang Dynasty showcased ancient ingenuity. The Han Dynasty gold-and-silver-inlaid "Grand Jue Wine Vessel," a museum treasure, drew particular admiration for its craftsmanship. The Zhao Kingdom’s "Gandan" knife coins also sparked lively discussions about ancient regional currencies. Interactive experiences like woodblock printing and New Year painting rubbings further engaged the visitors.

Transitioning from history to modernity, diplomats toured Hebei Xilide Hardware Manufacturing Co., Ltd., where automated production lines and a monthly output of 6,000–8,000 tons of screws highlighted Handan’s industrial prowess. Côte d’Ivoire’s Defense Attaché Adama Koné praised the "impressive scale and smart manufacturing."

In Yongnian’s Guangfu Ancient City, diplomats immersed themselves in Tai Chi culture at Yang Luchan’s former residence and savored local delicacies like sesame cakes and crispy fish. A nighttime boat ride featuring the "Dreaming of Handan" light show, complete with 3D projections and interactive displays, left a lasting impression. Vietnam’s Ambassador’s wife, Hoang Thi Huong Giang, dressed in traditional Warring States attire, described the experience as "a dream come true."

The tour continued to Linzhang and Daming counties, where diplomats explored the Ye City Museum and archaeological exhibits, gaining insights into ancient urban planning and Buddhist art. At Daming’s Stone Carving Museum, the intricate "Five Rites Stele" and calligraphic artistry captivated the group. A visit to Wudeli Flour Group showcased China’s advanced agri-processing capabilities, while traditional sesame oil production at Jingfu Black Sesame Oil Co. highlighted the blend of heritage and innovation.

The final leg took diplomats to Fengfeng Mining District’s Xiangtangshan Grottoes, where digital displays brought millennia-old Buddhist sculptures to life. At the Cizhou Kiln Art Museum, hands-on ceramic workshops allowed envoys to craft their own pottery, bridging cultural appreciation with personal experience.

The three-day event not only deepened understanding of Handan’s historical and modern achievements but also sowed seeds for future international cultural and industrial collaboration. Through this cross-border dialogue, Handan’s legacy and dynamism left an indelible mark on its global guests.
