Iran and Oman Hold Talks on Maritime Security in the Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Foreign Minister, accompanied by a delegation, visited Muscat, the capital of Oman, on the 11th local time and held discussions with Omani Foreign Minister Badr.

It was reported that the two sides focused on bilateral relations between Iran and Oman, the regional situation, and matters concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The Omani side expressed hope that Iran and the United States would fully implement the US-Iran understanding memorandum, ease regional tensions through diplomatic channels, and promote improvements in the regional security environment.

During the talks, the parties also exchanged views on establishing a relevant mechanism to ensure the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, specifically in relation to Article V of the aforementioned memorandum of understanding.
