On August 12, Hong Kong's major indices ended the day lower, with the Hang Seng Index falling 0.83% and the Hang Seng Tech Index dropping 0.99%.
Despite the broader market downturn, the semiconductor sector performed strongly throughout the session, with chip stocks leading the gains. Hua Hong Grace Semiconductor Limited and Montage Technology both surged over 7%, GigaDevice Semiconductor climbed more than 5%, and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) advanced over 3%.
Boosted by positive news, the optical module segment rallied across the board. Zhongji Innolight soared nearly 9%, Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) jumped over 7.5%, and Cambridge Industries rose more than 5%.
The PCB (Printed Circuit Board) concept stocks also strengthened, with KB Laminates surging over 10% for the day.
