In recent years, China Telecom has placed significant emphasis on the development of big data, incorporating it as one of the Group's seven strategic emerging businesses. However, the current performance and progress across various provincial branches remain a subject of inquiry.
According to exclusive information from informed sources, in the first 11 months of 2025, a total of 23 provincial branches achieved positive revenue growth. Among them, six branches—including Jiangsu Telecom, Fujian Telecom, Zhejiang Telecom, Henan Telecom, Chongqing Telecom, and Anhui Telecom—each recorded a year-on-year increase exceeding 50 million yuan.
As a result, the Group's big data business revenue for the first 11 months of 2025 achieved double-digit growth compared to the same period last year, with a growth rate as high as 65%. These provincial branches played a crucial role in driving this impressive performance.
Nevertheless, eight provincial branches still experienced negative growth in this business segment. These include Heilongjiang Telecom, Inner Mongolia Telecom, Jilin Telecom, and Liaoning Telecom, with a majority being branches located in northern regions.
Liu Qing, Director of the Communications Business Department at Operators Finance Network, commented that as one of the strategic emerging businesses, the development of big data is undoubtedly important. However, due to their smaller scale, northern provincial branches often struggle to allocate sufficient resources and focus to the growth of such new strategic initiatives.
