Gong Weihua Approved as Chief Information Officer of Hua Xia Bank, Groomed at Bank of Beijing

On November 20, Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited announced that it had received approval from the National Financial Regulatory Administration for Gong Weihua to assume the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Public records show that Gong Weihua, born in February 1971, holds a master's degree and is an engineer. His career includes serving as General Manager of the System Operations Department at Bank Of Beijing Co., Ltd., Party Committee Secretary and President of its Nanjing Branch, General Manager of the Corporate Banking Department, and CIO of Bank Of Beijing Co., Ltd. He is a seasoned banking professional who rose through the ranks at Bank Of Beijing Co., Ltd.

The process from Gong's appointment as CIO of Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited to the official regulatory approval took five months. On May 29, Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited announced a board resolution approving Gong's appointment as CIO and determining his compensation level. On the same day, the bank also disclosed the departure of its former CIO, Wu Yongfei, who retired due to age.

Prior to his CIO appointment, Gong had already transitioned to Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited, succeeding Wu Yongfei as Director of the Core System Construction Office.

Since 2024, several senior executives from Bank Of Beijing Co., Ltd. have moved to Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited. In addition to Gong, Chairman Yang Shujian, Deputy President Tang Yiming, and prospective Chief Risk Officer Fang Yi all hail from Bank Of Beijing Co., Ltd. Beyond top leadership, mid-level managers from Bank Of Beijing Co., Ltd. have also recently joined Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited.
