On February 5, a young man in Zhuhai, Guangdong, won what was announced as a new model smartphone valued at 9,988 yuan during his company's annual dinner. Hoping to surprise his wife, he chose not to open the box immediately. To his dismay, upon returning home and unwrapping the package, he discovered it contained candies and a tile instead of the promised device. The winner expressed that he initially thought he was fortunate, but it turned out to be quite the opposite.

It was later revealed that the prank was orchestrated by his department head, intended merely to liven up the event atmosphere. The man stated that while he could forego the phone, he insists on receiving an apology from the person responsible for the misleading arrangement.
