Bao Junwei: Companies Entering the Middle East Must Deploy Truly Technologically Advanced Core Products, Not Test Waters with Outdated Tech

Bao Junwei, Co-founder and Chairman of Seyond, believes the most critical capability for cities and infrastructure is data.

He pointed out that past infrastructure development focused more on hardware. As hardware technology matures and AI from the digital world becomes increasingly widespread, there is a desire to apply the cognitive abilities and capabilities of digital AI to the physical world.

However, AI for the physical world differs from that of the digital world. In the digital realm, AI development can rely on millennia of accumulated human knowledge and data deposited over decades of the internet. For the physical world, the corresponding foundational data is lacking.

"How to collect data from the physical world through various sensors and smart facilities, and then leverage the powerful computing capabilities of AI to progressively enhance the intelligence of the physical world—this is an extremely crucial point," he said.

He believes companies entering the Middle East market should also adopt the following approach, which has two core principles. First, they must deploy genuinely technologically advanced, core products in the Middle East, not test the waters with outdated technology. Second, they must sincerely commit to localized implementation, which is also a direction he hopes to advance.

"Our production lines can be quickly packaged and deployed, enabling efficient commissioning and operation in the Middle East—of course, the prerequisite is genuinely producing products locally and serving local enterprises, which is very critical," he stated.
